Craig's English - Learn English Through Practice

"Use it or lose it."

When you learn another language, if you don't use it, you will lose it. Most students in Taiwan learning English sit through hours of English classes being taught in Chinese. They have little practice speaking, writing or listening to English. I believe in a much more practical, communicative approach to language learning: use it!

Craig's English was originally designed to give students many different activities to practice English skills they've learned in class. There are many web sites out there, however, that specialize in English lessons and practice activities and do a much better job than I can. The primary mission of this web site, therefore, is now to introduce myself (education, work and language experiences and teaching philosophy) to current and prospective language learners. It will also be used to direct learners to web sites that are especially helpful for self-study and to share my life in Taiwan through the blog and photo album features.

The site was recently rebuilt after having been hacked, forcing me to delete everything and start fresh. I've restored much of the original content, added some new features and searching for ways to make the site more interesting and useful to my friends and clients. My goal is to provide my friends and students useful resources for practicing English. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me if there are any features or information you'd like me to add.

Turn your computer into a useful English learning tool. Your computer is no longer just for playing games or stealing vegetables from someone's "Happy Farm". There are so many useful sites for learning and practicing English, and I will do my best to introduce you to some of them.

Click on 'About me' to read a little about my education and professional, teaching and language learning experience. An avid language learner myself, I've developed a language learning/training philosophy that has proven to be very effective for the person seeking to improve their confidence and fluency.

With 20 years of travel industry/airline sales and management experience, I speak "Business" fluently. Understanding business concepts helps me to be an effective language coach, assisting executives improve their business communication skills.

Business Casual

Do you know the origin of the expression 'business casual'? Find out here.

I use the expression to describe the format of my business English coaching. Read about the variety of business English training programs I'm currently involved with. I have private 1:1 tutoring and small groups for conversation practice. My services are also available through Taipei's premiere business English consulting company, Lado Management Consultants.

When duty calls, English training appointments often need to be changed. After all, business comes first! I hope that by providing this calendar, we can make that process as easy as possible.

If you would like to make or change an appointment, please check here to see if the time most convenient for you is available. Then, simply contact me to confirm the arrangement.

Since 2005, I've been teaching English in Taiwan in a variety of settings and situations.

I've taught for cram schools, private junior/senior high schools and  business English consulting firms. I've also tutored privately for individuals and small groups. This section highlights the schools, organizations and businesses where I've taught and coached English language learners.

English learning online

There are many websites available to supplement and enhance your English language learning.
In this section, I've shared some of my favorite sites for self-study. Most of them are for listening practice, but there are also those with some grammar and vocabulary building activities.

Craig's English Blog

In the past, I had a blog with interactive English learning tools, such as games, videos and quizzes. It was assigned as homework for my junior and senior high school students but the site got very little traffic, so I've decided to make a more traditional blog with some random thoughts and experiences of life in Taiwan.

Most of the photos in my photo album are from my time in Taiwan. There are pictures of friends, colleagues, students (past and present) and more, providing me many fond memories that I'd like to share with you. I've also included some pictures of my family back in the US,  some of which are recent and some date as far back as my childhood.
